Typeractivity

It is worth noting how none of the AI I checked even attempts to guess the meaning of typeractivity. Where did I find help? The Urban Dictionary, of course.

Typeractivity is a word that is slowly gaining acceptance but still puzzles my spell-checker. It is a playful twist on the term hyperactivity, which is not a disorder on its own but reflective of some underlying cause. The cause is often attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Typeractivity, on the other hand, is a type of hyperactivity that specifically relates to the excessive use of personal devices, often referring to someone who texts madly and ceaselessly.

And how do you feel when you are in mid-sentence chatting with someone and they start texting?

Do you find yourself guilty of typeractivity? Are you, like me, related to one?

How does your office perceive a typeractivist?

What could be the underlying cause of a person’s typeractivity? Do they need treatment? Counseling? Or good old-fashioned discipline and a class on listening skills?
